Not only do we have a passion and a calling for the work we do, the burning we feel to make things right has been the driving force behind the success of our Foundation right from the start.
- EDUCATE: Ensuring girls don’t miss school through our “: Keep A Girl in School (Sanitary Pads)” program, and Early Childhood Education
It is our burning desire to remove obstacles and level out the playing fields for those who are struggling financially, to attend school and learn. How do young girls learn, develop, and become empowered if they are forced to miss school days purely because they can’t afford sanitary products?
- FEED: Sustainable food projects
How do children learn if they are hungry? How do adults work productively without a nutritious meal? How does a community thrive without sustainable food sources? It’s the very basics that are needed to build up and encourage productive living.
- ENABLE: Sight, hearing, and mobility
How do people with no money get work if they can’t hear, or if their eyesight is debilitating? The Acorn Foundation wants to encourage opportunities that will open doors to those who want to work and want to make a living for themselves. People who simply need a step up to be able to become a contributing members of society, by receiving the gift of sight, or hearing.
- CARE: Homeless, the elderly and animal shelter support
The elderly, homeless people and domesticated animals are the voiceless in our society. They cannot fend for themselves. In many scenarios, they are abandoned, ignored, or treated like objects instead of living beings. Acorn Foundation has a heart for supporting and assisting homes and shelters that provide care.
- CLEAN: Environmental impact
Acorn Foundation believes that the state of our environment reflects our society. Many beautiful landmarks across South Africa have been cleaned and rehabilitated through projects supported by the Foundation to build a society that can be proud of their environment.
- DEVELOP: Skills development and enablement
The sad reality in South Africa is that there are millions of people who really want to work but are struggling to find a job because they are illiterate, or unskilled. The Acorn Foundation individuals who have talents and skills that they can’t develop due to a lack of finances. These individuals are developed and supported so that they can reveal their inner potential, become financially independent, while becoming a contributing member of society.
